Council Update

Ordinary Council Meeting
Kingston Residents Association wrote to Councillors and Officers regarding a variety of issues.
Issues included – Kingswood Golf Course, Southern Rd extension, Suburban Rail Loop and Activity Centre Program, Climate and Ecological Response Plan, Domestic Animal Plan, Cr Saab – supporting Our Diverse Community and Heritage Review.
Proposal by Mayor Georgina Oxley to have a Kingston Botanical Gardens. It was commented that we already have two – Kingston Heath Reserve and Booker Reserve. And the question was asked – Can the remnants of wildflowers from Booker Reserve be transferred to Kingston Heath Reserve?

Rossdale Golf Club

Flooding issues were discussed.
The Priority Projects Standing Advisory Committee has been deferred to November.
Important that all the environmental issues be considered.
Will we be able to view the submissions of the stakeholders?

LXRA and the Mordialloc Railway precinct

Stakeholders meeting on November 11th

Sauna on the Aspendale Foreshore

Supposed to be removed December 2nd

Peter Scullin Reserve

Native vegetation removal at 206-220 Bay Trail 820m West.
The stated reason is ‘sightlines and natural surveillance’, but what is actual purpose for the removals?
What, where, and how much native vegetation will be removed?
Can this issue be referred to Environment and Open Spaces Advisory Committee?

Mayfield House Relics.

Kingston Council paid $5000 to purchase a variety of relics from this historical home when it was demolished. They were meant to be incorporated into a Farm Museum. The Council purchased land in Heatherton for a Farm Museum to honour the local market gardeners. They have since purchased the Le Bon collection of farm implements. It is now proposed to sell them. The Relics from Mayfair homestead seem to have disappeared and have ended up at the tip.
There seems to be little or no regard by Kingston Council for our local heritage.
